Block and beam flooring. Beams and slip bricks supplied by floorpan contracts ltd. Blocks I bought from a wholesale a lot cheaper. I had to cut pockets into the existing wall, but I found the bricks fairly soft, so I decided to sit the beams onto 10mm thick metal bearing plates. I used stainless steel, probably overkill. The beam ends were wrapped in DPC and the whole floor was isolated from main wall with a vertical DPC, this is because this part of the existing house was underneath DPC level, so I'm just avoiding any damp making it's way into the block and beam. Again, probably not necessary, as the whole floor will be covered with a damp membrane anyway. I'd rather do it right now and not risk any problems in the future though. The last pocket I cut was into some really solid engineering bricks, so took a while.
