Little Venice is a piece of paradise near Paddington. With plenty of things to do in Little Venice, it is sure to take you by surprise! London is too crowded with tourists! Is there a place I can escape to, that's less crowded, serene and close to nature – all at once? The famous Little Venice mansions provide a stunning backdrop. And the triangular pool, complete with willow tree, is home to several floating businesses such as the Waterside Cafe, London Waterbus, a floating art gallery and a hotel boat. That said, it's a great area to explore year-round – in summer you can dine in waterside restaurants and relax in the leafy parks; later in the year, Little Venice makes an excellent starting point for a crisp autumn stroll along Regent's Canal passing the zoo, Camden Market, and King's Cross before ending up in East . The Regent's Canal tiptoes through the capital. This is a city walk through the backdoor, catching London in private, with its slippers on. There are excellent transport links in Maida Vale and Little Venice including London Underground services from the following stations: Maida Vale (Bakerloo line, Zone 2), Warwick Avenue (Bakerloo line, Zone 2), Kilburn Park (Bakerloo line, Zone 2). The origin of the name is sometimes attributed to the poet Robert Browning who lived at Beauchamp Lodge, 19 Warwick Crescent, between 1862 and 1887. This was disputed by Lord Kinross in 1966 who asserted that Lord Byron (1788–1824) first humorously compared the locale to Venice.
