LUDWIG Neusonic 13 16 22K in 'Digital Black Oyster' - Soundcheck by Bryan Macaranas

There's only been a couple of Ludwig drums in this studio, and every opportunity I get, I do record and nerd on them specially looking into what discerns one series from another. Purely based on what I read about the Neusonic series, I didn't really know what to expect to be honest. I was specially intrigued on what sonic element(s) the plies of Cherry wood would present. The kick drum is the absolute superstar of this particular kit, I just couldn't get enough. Nice woody punch, and clear and balanced bottom end / attack. The first thing I would switch out are the tom batters (Remo Emperors) which in my opinion would probably be better with single ply coated heads (like an Evans G1 Coated / Remo Ambassador) or at the thickest, an Evans G2 Coated. I love this finish - looks great on camera, and in person. Now to nerd some more...
