Roland TR-6S quick little performance demo

A short demo and quick play with some of the neat performance tricks of the TR-6S. Hugely enjoyable machine to play with and it’s sound is definitely bigger than it’s size would suggest. This little demo includes synth parts from the Moog Matriarch and Eurorack which are synced to the TR-6S via midi clock. They are there just to make the video a tiny bit more interesting than just listening to a drum pattern for 4 minutes. They are not triggered by the TR-6S, just synced. The drum pattern itself is one I quickly made for the video. It uses mostly a TR-606 kit with some modifications (namely the 808 snare). I programmed the built in LFO to add some variation to the non kick and snare parts, which are also looped across an odd length to increase the rhythmic interest. The fills and other variations are all done live via the Step Loop feature. Having the individual part volume faders are one of the main reasons the unit appealed - it makes life so much easier being able to mute parts and bring them back in without any effort or button presses. Side note: not entirely sure why the Eurorack modules decided to drift slightly out of tune half way through. It was late though and they had been on all evening. Seeing as they weren’t the focus of the video, I didn’t bother re-recording it. This new drum machine arrival does of course mean my trusty old Korg ER-1 will now retire, I’ve had that from new since it came out in 1999. It can enjoy it’s retirement by relaxing in the corner doing jigsaw puzzles.
