According to their website, Hilti's entry to the US market was 1957. This might be akin to an urban legend but I have been told several times that Hilti had their sales force demostrate the safety of the low velocity DX-100L over Hi V tools by placing a box on their stomach and using a DX-100L, shoot a fastener into the box. They would then show that that they were unharmed by the fastener, thus proving how much safer indirect drive was over direct drive fastening. I was also told that that the demonstration could and did go wrong if the sales person forgot to use the right piston.
