Kolhapur Violence: The police in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district have arrested 36 people for stone pelting, vandalism, and rioting reported on June 7. The violence erupted during a bandh called by pro-Hindutva outfits seeking action against certain objectionable social media posts. Six others were arrested in connection with an earlier incident of stone pelting and rioting in Kolhapur city on June 6 over the same reason. The Kolhapur district police have registered four separate first information reports, three on the violence on June 7 and one on the incident on June 6.
