STIHL ADVANCE ProCOM is a new, intelligent communication system for professionals working in the forest or in noisy environments. With a high attenuation value of SNR 31, or SNR 32 for the headband version, STIHL ProCOM reliably protects against the engine noise of petrol-powered equipment, while allowing for clear communication with up to 16 other ProCOM headsets. The hard-wearing headsets are available either as a headband unit, or as an accessory to fit STIHL ADVANCE X-climb helmets, or any safety helmet compatible with 3M attachments. The internal components of STIHL ProCOM are well insulated and IP 64 rated, meaning the headsets can be used in all weather, and the lithium-ion battery can last up to 17 hours on a single charge. All the control buttons are large enough to be pressed easily with gloves on and are intuitively located, meaning you can benefit from all the features, without ever taking the headset off. STIHL ADVANCE ProCOM will automatically connect with other headsets and gives the option of having the microphone permanently on for frequent communication, or as a ‘push to talk’ mode like a traditional walkie talkie. The high-quality microphone records a clear signal free of distortion, helping users to communicate clearly and efficiently. STIHL ProCOM also uses clever noise reduction technology that helps to filter out background machine noise when speaking – so even if you’re working around a noisy chipper, your colleagues will still hear your voice loud and clear. Two ProCOM headsets have a maximum communication range of up to 600 meters, depending on the nature of the terrain. Thanks to the latest Bluetooth mesh technology, each ProCOM headset can act as a signal repeater increasing the overall range of the system, meaning a team of workers located around the forest or work site could communicate over much further distances. For extra clarity, a range alarm ensures that a user is warned in good time if the ProCOM headset may be about to lose connection to other users. If you have different teams working in the same area, this isn’t a problem as STIHL ProCOM allows for multiple communication channels to be configured easily via the STIHL ProCOM app. One of our favourite features is ambient mode. With ambient mode turned on, users are fully aware of their surroundings – from the noise of passing traffic, members of the public or the sound of a creaking branch. Ambient mode will turn off automatically if it detects a nearby engine revving up, giving you the right protection exactly when it’s needed. STIHL ADVANCE ProCOM has radio functionality built in and lets you change channels at the touch of a button. It’s important to note that the volume of any music or radio being played will reduce automatically to prioritise incoming messages and keep communication channels clear at all times. Like our STIHL DYNAMIC Bluetooth ear defenders, it’s possible to pair up to two smartphones so that users can answer phone calls or listen to music. The free STIHL ADVANCE ProCOM app also adds extra functions such as saving your favourite radio stations, adjusting communication channels, and changing the microphone sensitivity to name just a few. There’s plenty more clever technology. For example, you can press the button, as demonstrated in the video, to activate your phone’s virtual assistant and use your smartphone’s functionality hands free.
