KINMAN: SurfMaster (Bridge) & FatMaster (Neck) Zero-Hum Pickups vs Fender AVRI's

http://www.kinman.com/guitar-pickups/... https://reverb.com/marketplace?query=... A Jazzmaster is a beautiful guitar to those who understand them. They're not without their quirks, however, and some of those maybe unwelcome. While their pickups have a particularly open and zingy sound, thanks to the wide and flat wind, they are also often noisy. Chris Kinman's Zero-Hum (noiseless) Pickups negate that noise leaving you with the great tone only. But the improvements don't stop there as Kinman offers four output and tone variations on the traditional Jazzmaster pickup - FatMaster, SurfMaster, ThickMaster and P-90x. Please see the link above for details on all of these. For this video I have chosen the full-bodied FatMaster for the neck position and the SurfMaster with its extra twang and wallop for the bridge position. I doubt I'll be removing either any time soon as they also sound phenomenal in the middle position (together) - and no noise! For the purposes of demonstration I've A-B'd the original Fender AVRI pickups with the Kinmans in this video. This should give you an idea of the tonal differences (both great) and the noise floor differences (one not-so-great). Although the pickups were shot three days apart the amp (Laney VH-100R) remained in its initial (Fender pickups) state for the Kinman video shoot. Today's tools: Guitar: 2015 Fender '65 RI Jazzmaster with Staytrem bridge and tremolo arm. Amp: Laney VH-100R & LT212 Cabinet (Greenbacks).
