In 2017 I started a rewatch of all seasons.And then proceeded to start and discard so many edits, like a crazy person. I've got like .. 20? half way done ..lol Anyway! What I'm saying is, for the first time it felt right. Making this. And the previous one. Maybe it's not technical editing, maybe it's not aesthetic. IDC. It's a cathartic process. It's about that thread holding 16 seasons together, the nostalgia and love of it all. Love these two. The raw pain of losing Derek tying them together against their will. The way they hurt each other so viciously. Their fundamentally incompatible world views. Meredith's stoic private mourning versus Amelia's open, heart wrenching breakdown. All the implications, the callbacks to Lexie and Cristina. So many scenes with these two break my damn heart. How it can never be truly fixed. But it's good, somehow. Good enough.
