Here is a basic stage make-up tutorial for children and parents, presented by Reigate Dance Schools (RSB). Stage Make-Up is so important for children to be seen properly on stage, as it accentuates facial features and brings the face to life. We often get asked why makeup is really necessary especially for young children. Under normal lighting conditions like a room or outside, no make up is required (unless you really want to), but in a theatre, it is vital to see their faces properly under strong theatre lights, as otherwise their features would simply be bleached and washed out. As you will see, this is a very basic tutorial, but should be sufficient for young children in our local theatres.
