Buy your favourite Cookd Recipes in a box ! 👉https://shop.cookdtv.com/ Sambar Rice Recipe: To Soak Tamarind : Tamarind - 1 ½ lemon sized portion Water - 1 ½ Cup To pressure Cook : Raw Rice - 1 ¼ Cup Dal - ¾ Cup Turmeric Powder - ¼ tsp Salt - 1 tsp + ½ tbsp Water - 4 ½ Cups For the Masala : Oil - 2 tbsp Mustard seeds - 1 tsp Garlic - 6-8 Cloves Curry Leaves - 1 Sprig Dry Red Chillies (Deseeded) - 4 nos Shallots - 20 nos Carrot (diced) - 2 nos Drumstick (batons) - 2 nos Brinjal (diced) - 3 nos Sambar Powder - 1 ½ tbsp Water - 2 ½ Cups Ghee - 2 tbsp Coriander leaves - For Garnish Cooking Instructions: 1. Soak tamarind in hot water and keep it aside. 2. Wash and soak the rice and dal for 30 minutes. 3. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked rice and dal. Add water and salt, mix it and let it cook for 4 whistles. Turn off the flame and let the steam reduce gradually. 4. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, garlic, dry red chillies and curry leaves and let it crackle. 5. Add the shallots and saute till they turn translucent 6. Add the carrot, drumstick and saute for 2 minutes 7. Add sambar powder and mix it well for a minute 8. Add the brinjal, mix it well and add water and mix it till the masala dissolves in the water. 9. Bring the water to a boil and cover and let it cook on a medium flame for 10 minutes 10. Add the tamarind water and mix. Keep it aside. 11. Add the vegetable mixture to the cooked rice and dal, mix it till all the ingredients combine evenly. 12. Add ghee, mix it well.
