RPNS: NY Public Library & Train Study
Rye Presbyterian Nursery School is known for being a preschool inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early education. At RPNS, projects and investigations emerge from the students’ ideas and interests. During the 2014-2015 school year one of the four year old classes embarked on an in-depth study of New York City. The students wanted to learn about the New York Public Library, Grand Central Terminal, and of course, the train system. Watch the video to see how the children’s ideas influenced their play, led to the integration of math, science, and literacy in the classroom, and sparked a culminating journey into the City!
