【Alishan Forest Railway】Cab Ride from Tunnel 46 to The 1st Switch

Tunnel 46 of Alishan Forest Railway is also known as the Pingzhena Tunnel. According to the official announcement, the length of the tunnel is 1,233 meters. It claims to be the longest 762mm narrow-gauge railway tunnel in the world, but it is not. This tunnel is actually 1,141 meters long. When the project was in progress, another rock shed was built between the new Pingzhena Tunnel and the original No. 47 tunnel to "stick" these two sections together and merge them into No. 46. The tunnel has a total length of 1,233 meters. The west entrance of Tunnel No. 46 is located at the former site of Pingzhena Station. After entering the tunnel, the route first makes a left bend, then a long straight line, turns left again, and finally connects to the 25-meter-long rock shed at the east exit, followed by a 67-meter the long former No. 47 tunnel.
