Running My First Ultra Marathon - 75KM St Cuthberts Way

Ultra running, Its a lot harder than I anticipated! I ran my first Ultra Marathon on July 10th 202. This was a 45 Mile - 75KM Race across the Scottish boarders and Northumberland hills, nearly double the distance you would run on a normal Marathon. Having never ran an Ultra Marathon before it was quite the experience! Something which I never thought I could be capable of. It was the most surreal experience and most definitely something which has changed my life completely. And for the record, Ultra Marathons are hard. I documented the training, events leading up to the race and the race itself. All which can be seen here! Running an Ultra Marathon is something totally new to me and I learned an awful lot about myself along the way, it opened my eyes into just how difficult the sport of Ultra running is. Having ran Marathons in the past I was unsure how much more difficult it could be to bridge the gap between 42.2KM and 75KM. Turns out it was pretty difficult!! I pretty much self filmed the whole video using a Go Pro Hero 8 which I found to work absolutely amazingly. I cannot fault the Go-Pro Hero 8 at all. I edited the video using iMovie... Something which worked fine, but not I am sure there will be better software out there, it did the job fine though. Sean Conway was the chap who gave me the unbelivable advice, people have actually commented on how good it was after watching the video, check out his socials @Seanconwayadventure - Really cool guy! Charity: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraisin... given how difficult I found this ultra marathon I figured it would be worth while trying to raise money for charity! It is already over £900 which has surpassed all expectations! The Race: Bridging the national borders between Scotland and England. The race starts at the historic town of Melrose in the Scottish Borders and finishes at Wooler in Northumberland. The route follows a way marked path heading Eastwards crossing large sections of the beautiful Scottish Borders region and the Northumberland National Park. The race finishes at at the lovely market place town of Wooler. The race qualifies for 3 UTMB points - Pretty cool!!!
