AJ: What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to checking out the TRUNX rooftop box. This is the perfect solution if you want to get all that gear up out of your vehicle and give your passengers more space on your trip. You can see, I got some stuff laid out here. This is 18 cubic feet of room, which I can say that, but I'd rather just show you the gear in there to show you how much space you have to work with. Let's load it up. The cool feature that it has is the top actually props up so you can load it from each side or just straight up from the back like this. I thought this bag would be easier to do this. It's nice. Push it towards the front. You have access from all three sides.Another bonus to load it from back here is you can fit those longer items like skis here. We have a small pair of skis, but they fit in the box, which just perfect, because it's better than putting them in the ski racks. It protects them from the elements. You need to slide it back here. Was easy to put them in. If I we're to try to put them in from the side, I would have had to come in at an angle and kind of avoid the prop rise. Loading it from the back here makes it way easier. We've got all our gear in there and there's room to spare. And see, the top shell here gives us plenty more room. We could have stacked a few more things up here to full it to the brim, but this is all the gear I have. So this is what we're taking. Time to go ahead and close it up, now that I've got it loaded. This brings us to the prop rods. A small critique there is it is a little challenging to do it by yourself. I'm going to do it myself to kind of show you what I'm talking about. As I take this prop, rod out this side is going to kind of flop down and that side is going to be a little unstable. I recommend if you have a second set of hands, just to have one person, grab one rod and the other one grab the other prop rod and just do it at the same time, super easy that way. This way, it's not impossible, but here I'll just show you instead of keep talking about it. You see how it all the way it kind of goes on one side. It's like I said, not impossible, but just a little tricky and you'll have to get used to it if you're doing it by yourself. You got a second set of hands, way easier. Before we lock it up in the back, we've got to throw all three latches around the sides here. I'm going to take this metal piece and put it the indention on the top of the lip and then throw this plastic part of the latch. Now I'm going to stop talking, so you can hear how loud it snaps. This just is how tight it's going to hold the top to the bottom. That's pretty loud. I can try and use one finger just to kind of get it to pop out and it's not popping out. It's not moving now. That might wear out over time, but right now it seems pretty nice and tight. It comes with this metal pin here. You put it in there and that keeps that clip from popping out, or you can add your own padlock to it. That's sold separately, but you can put one on each side for extra security. With three latches put in place, it's time to lock it up. I recommend pushing down on top just a little bit to help align it. Makes this one turn like that, that easy. Now it's all locked up. Nobody can get in there. And that's the whole point of these hard shell boxes. You can't just get a knife through there, like a bag or just rip it off the roof. This thermal plastic, it's not only durable, but you can see I'm shaking the whole car and the box isn't moving. So you know that's not going anywhere. And you have three access points is really helpful, because if you're in a parking lot, maybe there was a car right here. You can't get there like you want to. Or on the other side, maybe you parked on the side of the road. You don't want to do it on the side with the road. Heck, if you're in really tight parking and you're even unloading it, you don't want to hit the car next to you on either side. You can pull it straight out the back, giving you all those options to get your gear up and out of there. You can see its aerodynamic shape. It's made to cut through the wind and not make as much noise on your roof. But to be honest, anytime you're going to throw anything up there, it's going to make a little bit of noise. You're going to feel a little bit of it while you're driving, so that's completely normal. It's very comparable to the other boxes we have and I've driven with. It doesn't make much more noise than they do. It doesn't soun
