The Ambedkar Memorial Udyan was first established in 1995. After further repairs in 2002, the Udyan came to be known as the ‘Dr Bhimrao ambedkar Memorial’. In 2007, the memorial was updated, but it was only in 2008 that it became fully operational as a public space. In 2012, the name of the park was changed to the ‘Bharatmahaam’ or ‘Bhimrao’ Ambedkar Memorial. The park was constructed at a cost of approximately INR 6 billion and was inaugurated on April 14, 2008, Dr Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, during Mayawati’s tenure as the CM of Uttar Pradesh.Ambedkar Memorial park is considered one of the most beautiful parks in Lucknow. The park's landscaping is well-maintained, with various plants, trees, and flowers that make it a beautiful and serene place to visit. The park's architecture is also noteworthy, with several statues and sculptures, including a giant statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. The park's pond, surrounded by lush greenery and fountains, adds charm and beauty. The park also has well-manicured lawns, walking paths, and jogging tracks, providing visitors with a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. This public park, created in honour of Dr B. R. Ambedkar, is also named for several other freedom warriors, including Jyotiba Phule, Birsa Munda, Kanshi Ram, and Sree Narayana Guru. The park is home to numerous statues and buildings with historical significance. History of Dr Ambedkar park Dr Ambedkar Memorial park in Lucknow has a relatively short but eventful history.
