JOSEPH, Missouri – (13/16) K-State powered past Missouri with a record-setting third quarter, as the Wildcats registered an 84-56 win in the inaugural Bill Snyder Basketball Classic at Civic Arena on Saturday night. K-State improved its record to 9-1 for the second straight season and the fifth time under the direction of head coach Jeff Mittie. The Wildcats saw four in double figures, led by senior center Ayoka Lee with a game-high 28 points on 12-of-15 shooting and nine rebounds. This was Lee's 10th game this season in double figures. Junior guard Brylee Glenn added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Playing in front of numerous family and friends near her hometown of Maryville, Missouri, junior guard Serena Sundell tallied 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, eight assists, two rebounds and two steals. Senior Gabby Gregory chipped in with 10 points, eight rebounds and two assists. HOW IT HAPPENED K-State would lead by seven, 32-25, at halftime, as Lee registered 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, six rebounds, a block and a steal in the opening half. For the second straight game, K-State reached the 30-point mark in the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 36-12. The 36 points tied the school record for points in any quarter and set the school mark for points in a third quarter. The Wildcats shot 71.4 percent (15-of-21) from the field and besting its first half point total (32). The Wildcats raced past Missouri (7-4) to open the third quarter with a 23-6 run in the first five and a half minutes of the stanza. All five of K-State's starters scored during the run to hold a 55-31 lead with 4:24 remaining. K-State would outscore the Tigers 13-6 in the final four minutes of the quarter, as Sundell hit a baseline jumper as the third quarter expired to construct a 68-37 lead. The Wildcats outscored the Tigers over the second and third quarters, 55-22. For the night, K-State shot 48.6 percent (35-of-72) from the field. The Wildcat defense held the Tigers to a 29.0 percent (18-of-62) effort from the floor including a 23.1 percent (6-of-26) performance from 3-point range. With her block on Saturday, Lee improved her career total to 254 and ranks third in program history. Lee needs four blocked shots to pass Marlies Gipson (2005-09; 257) for second in school history. With her 12 points on Saturday, Brylee Glenn carded her third game this season and the 30th of her career in double figures. Taryn Sides handed out six assists on Saturday. This was her fourth game this season with five or more assists. Gregory tallied her 73rd career game with 10 or more points. With her two connections from long range, Gregory notched her 60th career game with two or more 3-pointers in a game.
