Carry on Mummy | Stand-up Comedy by Harpriya Bains

My name is Harpriya Bains. I am a stand-up comedian based out of Delhi. I have been doing Stand up for the last 5 years. This is my first YouTube Video and my labor of love and laughter! My inspiration for comedy comes from the daily life of an Indian housewife and mother with puns “intended” against the hypocrisy of our patriarchy. As I release my first video on Labour Day, I dedicate it to the largest unpaid labor force in the world, The Home Makers. Ladies, we are in this together and I believe in the power of “us”. If we can keep our families healthy, alive, screaming, active, sane, and together while keeping our own sanity intact, trust me, there’s nothing in the world we can’t achieve! And it’s the everyday light-hearted moments amongst the chaos that keeps us going. In the end, it’s how we just laugh it all out no matter what life throws at us, put on our lipstick, and get ready for the next day! A special thanks to Kishore Dayani and his team, Devesh Dixit, and Shreya Priyam for all their support in shooting this video. It was shot on the 5th of March 2023 at the Laughter Nation comedy club in Hauz Khas where I did the opening act for Devesh Dixit in a houseful audience. My sincere gratitude to Neeti Palta for mentoring me from time to time in my comic journey and a big thank you to all my mentors and comic friends for all your support and guidance always. Last but not least, a big shout out to the loves of my life, my Chunni Munni and unke Papa, both my Mummies & Papas, Brothers & Sisters for bearing with all my craziness and my Besties for never bearing with my craziness and giving it all back to me. I am married to an Army Officer and mother of two daughters and a dog. I am also a watercolor artist and model by profession. Being a fauji kid and now a wife, I have had the opportunity to travel across India and so all my art forms are very close to my heart as they are a reflection of my journey as a woman, as a comic, and as an artist and are a little bit part of me and the memories I built along the way.
