These people who lived a life of poverty, ascetism, and love of the Divine were called the People of the Bench (Ahl As Suffa). These are the people whom this world did not divert from the Remembrance of the Divine Presence. These teachings of creating Divine Love in the human heart, were transmitted by Hazrat Ali RA, the Ahl As Suffa to their disciples. These ascetics in turn, transmitted them to their disciples, and so forth; until the time of Hazrat Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani RA.These teachings were solidified and explained by Sayyidina Hazrat Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani RA. Sayyidina Hazrat Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani RA, who is also called 'Huzur Ghosepak' in the Indian subcontinent, lived almost a 1000 years back in Persian province of Jilan. He is our patron saint after whom the Qadriya Sufi Path is named. Our beloved master spent more than 25 years in the wilderness seeking closeness to the Divine Presence. He is known widely for his miracles and his ecstatic outpourings. "The first goal of our path is the cleansing of the heart. The way to do this is to deny the ego (nafs) its futile and vain desires. By meditation and continuous rememberance - One's ego is reformed.
