At :48, a lookout spots a whale, and at 1:40 the whale is harpooned from a distance of perhaps fifty feet. The whale is then beached at the 2:27 mark so that it can be processed. At 4:30, barnacles are removed from the skin of the whale prior to it being carved open and butchered. At 5:30, the skin of the creature is removed and then blubber peeled off in strips. As the film shows, nearly every square inch of the whale was harvested until almost nothing remained.
