"A Composer of Two Cities: Norwich and New London Part I" Produced by the Bank Street Blues Project

"A Composer of Two Cities: Norwich and New London" tells the story of composer Charles Frink, from his early years in Norwich, to the time when his family moved to New London in the 1930s. The narrative connects the story of Charles’s life and his involvement in the community as a student at Harbor School and Bulkeley School for Boys, his participation in the Oratorio Society--the musical group that later on became the Eastern Connecticut Symphony--, and his legacy as history teacher and city councilor, to his development as a musician and his writing of the collection of songs “Bank Street Blues.” This video has been taped by Karl Jennings of I-Ching Productions, and contains several of the songs and instrumental pieces included in the CD recorded at Fortune Studios under the direction of professor James McNeish. “A Composer of Two Cities” has been made possible with support from the Department of Economic and Community Development, Connecticut Office of the Arts, through a Regi Grant. The second part will be available shortly, featuring interviews with Dr.Sprecace, Adam Sprecace, Linda Mariani, Phred Mileski, Patrice Newman, and James McNeish. *This activity is supported by the Office of the Mayor, City of New London, and Otis Library in Norwich.
