Grâce au développement du concept d’élastographie impulsionnelle, ce doctorant en physique parvient à mesurer l’élasticité des milieux mous. En s’alliant avec des médecins de l’Institut Mutualiste Montsouris, Laurent Sandrin décide d’appliquer son invention à l’évaluation de la dureté du foie, qui permet de pronostiquer la santé de l’organe. A la suite des premiers essais cliniques, le premier FibroScan® est mis sur le marché en 2003. By Agence Delta Echosens was born in 2001 from Laurent Sandrin's thesis work at the ESPCI's Waves and Acoustics Laboratory. Thanks to the development of the concept of impulse elastography, this doctoral student in physics succeeded in measuring the elasticity of soft media. Working with doctors at the Institut Mutualiste Montsouris, Laurent Sandrin decided to apply his invention to the evaluation of the hardness of the liver, which can be used to predict the health of the organ.
