Making a HUGE log splitter. part 1

It’s a good opportunity for me to learn how to draw projects in 3D cad to modernise myself. After spending a bit of time I manage to get the basics of what I needed drawn. The parts are then convert into DXF files and loaded into sheetcam to write into a file the cnc plasma cutter can read. The file is loaded into the cnc plasma and the parts are cut from 15mm plate. After cleaning the parts up, the 2 main plates are tack welded together and placed onto the milling machine to have the pin holed bored out to 2” ¼ Next job is to weld one end on the bottom link plates onto the tube that will be used as the headstock cross bar. I weld in the main braces on the beam next, these are cut from 100x12 flat bar and are welded into the end to strengthen the whole thing. The main side plates are then pressed to bring the top link spacing down to a narrower width. The plates are tacked into place then the main welding process can begin. Thanks for watching!
