Haji Lane. The Most Charming & Cutest Street in Singapore. Haji Lane is a narrow lane, lined with many small but interesting shops with boutiques, cafés, tattoo parlors, yoga studios, and old-school Egyptian restaurants oozing out its own character and charm, together with many colorful murals and wall painting. Hidden in the heart of Kampong Glam, Haji Lane famous for its street art is a true discovery for the curious traveler. This unique place is a home to eclectic bars and cafes, independent boutiques where you can find young Asian designers, hand-made jewellery and stylish home accessories. Its charming Peranakan architecture with colourful adjacent buildings, carefully preserved vintage letterboxes and wooden window shutters is a truly romantic picture of the old world. The eclectic atmosphere at Haji Lane resembles that of Le Marais in Paris, and New York's Meatpacking district or London's Shoreditch. Here Middle-Eastern eateries neighbor with trendy vintage shops, while hip cocktail bars are hidden above Scandinavian furniture shops. The building walls in Haji Lane feature some of the best graffiti art you ever come across, which makes this part of town one of the most attractive destinations. Haji Lane is only a short walk from the Bugis MRT, and nearby Sultans Mosque which is in Arab Street next to it. The street was titled after 'Haji', the muslims who went on a pilgrimage to Mecca in the 60s and 70s, while the fashion history of Haji Lane started in 2005 with the opening of a pop-up store by a Japanese designer brand Comme des Garçons.
