Blackpool Corporation Transport: Leyland Atlantean AN68/2R Part Six: 351-357

Blackpool Corporation Transport was a latecomer to the world of rear-engined double decker buses and, quite naturally, because of its geographical location, chose the Leyland Atlantean with East Lancashire Coachbuilders bodies seating 86 or 85 on the later vehicles. The first arrived in 1976 and several batches were purchased taking the total fleet to 64, the last two of which had East Lancs' double deck coach body and were two of only four "B registration" Atlanteans in the UK, one other at Merseyside PTE (that was actually delivered in February and stored until August in an attempt to be the last Atlantean to enter service), and the final one being at Fylde Borough Transport and entered service six weeks after the Blackpool examples. The last actual Leyland Atlantean chassis were delivered to Lancaster City Transport and bodied, much earlier, again with East Lancs' double deck coach body but carried "A registrations". Blackpool's fleet comprised: 301-310 were BFR301R-BFR304R & CBV305S-CBV310S 311-320 were JFV 311S-JFV320S 321-330 were URN321V-URN330V 331-340 were AHG331V-AHG340V 341-350 were GHG341W-GHG350W 351-354 were UHG351Y-UHG354Y 355-362 were A355HHG-A362HHG (two piece glider doors) 363-364 were B363UBV-B364UBV (Coach bodies and seats for 76) 310,335 and 342 destroyed by fire at Rigby Road in 1987 We hope you enjoy this presentation and that you will give it a "thumbs up" and subscribe to our channel: Youtube Podbaba Transport.
