Kirit Iswari temple is situated in Kirit Kona village under the nabagram in murshidabad district in the state of West Bengal. According to the Purana S or Hindu Mythology the place were named as Kirit Iswari peeth devi name is devi Vimala and vairab is Samanta. The construction of the temple is more than 1000 years old and this place was considered to be the sleeping place of Mahamaya. local people called this temple as Mahisha mardini . Devi is also worshipped as Mukut Iswari (as her crown fell) the holy goddess. The original temple was destroyed in 1405. The present temple was re constructed by Darpa narayan , king of Lalgola in the 19th century and this is the oldest mark of architecture amongst 51 Peetha. It is the oldest temple in the murshidabad district. There is a myth that Nawab Mir Jafar in his death bed had requested for the holy charanamrit o of Maa Kirit Iswari while suffering from leprosy. English Cemetery is situated in Kasim bazar murshidabad. Here lies a fet tombs all unmarked except one. The tombs that have a plaque informing that they belong to Warren Hastings first wife Mary a daughter. so significant as murshidabad at the time was still the capital of the British in India.
