Kaohi INVIZ Hybrid Leash Explained | Features, Benefits, and Why It’s a Must-Have

In this video, Tucker from MACkiteboarding discusses the Kaohi INVIZ Hybrid Leash, a versatile and popular leash for wing foiling. Tucker begins by explaining that the leash comes in several varieties, including one with a carabiner and another with a rail-saver attachment. He prefers the carabiner version for easy attachment to his harness, allowing quick detachment and reattachment. The leash features a loose coil that stretches and returns without slingshotting the board back, minimizing the risk of injury. Its short length and positioning near the harness help prevent tangling, making it unobtrusive during sessions. Tucker highlights the leash’s durable Amsteel line, commonly used in wing foiling and kiteboarding, which is strong, lightweight, and low drag. This low drag design makes it feel nearly invisible, hence the name “INVIZ.” The leash also incorporates a bungee section that acts as a shock absorber, reducing the impact when the board gets pulled in waves or strong winds. The Kaohi INVIZ Hybrid Leash is 5 feet long, unstretched, and extends to about 8 feet, offering a versatile range that suits different wing foiling needs. Tucker appreciates this balance, noting that a leash should neither be too short (which can keep the board too close) nor too long (which could drag excessively in the water). He also finds it easy to switch the leash between multiple boards using a larks head knot technique, eliminating the need to own multiple leashes. Tucker mentions that the leash also comes in a cuff version for those who prefer to attach it to their calf or ankle, such as when surfing downwind without a harness. However, Tucker favors using a harness as it keeps the leash up and out of the water, avoiding tangles while kneeling or standing. According to Tucker, this leash's reliability, lightweight design, and adaptability set it apart. It works for all his boards, from longer downwind boards to shorter prone boards, and can even be shortened by tying a knot in the Amsteel line. He has also used it as a leash for his wing, though he notes that it's a bit overkill for that purpose.
