#Exploring an #Abandoned #Disused Canal Lock. What a great find. Originally built in 1871, Llanthony Lock sits just off the main South West Bypass but few people know it is even there. Tucked away next to an old railway bridge, beside the main road is a hidden piece of Gloucester history. An old canal, just about long enough for a barge, maybe two, lies empty and abandoned. Next to the lock are the cottages, once home to the lock keepers, who guided the boats in and out of the tiny canal and back onto the river. Towards the end of the video is a clip of a modern canal lock this is what the #abandoned canal lock would have looked like.
