I rented a car and drove from Ljubljana to Lake Bohinj & Waterfall Savica in the snow peaked mountains of the Julian Alps in north west Slovenia, just inside the boundaries of Triglav National Park. 🇸🇮 See more videos from SLOVENIA here → https://bit.ly/mwt_Slovenia My trip to Slovenia got off to a good start when I drove my rental car from the airport in Ljubljana towards Lake Bled and the magnificent snow peaked mountains of the Slovenian Alps. From Lake Bled I continued on in the direction of Lake Bohinj (Bohinjsko Jezero) where I parked up and took a walk alongside the crystal clear water of the lake. I hadn’t anticipated how much snow and how few tourists there would be! The roads were generally in good shape and I felt confident enough to drive around but there were definitely a few white knuckle moments with the inevitable build up of snow and ice on a few sections of the road. It was spectacular to see the beautiful mountains and trees draped in snow - winter time is amazing in Slovenia! From Lake Bohinj (Bohinjsko Jezero) I continued driving into the mountains and eventually came to a car park that served a sky lodge and the trailhead to a nearby waterfall - the so-called Waterfall Savica (Slap Savica). Due to it being winter the ticket office was closed leaving me to walk through and get on the trail for free. The hike up was about 20 minutes and fairly slippery in the snow and ice. At its peak the waterfall is 78 metres tall but it was much smaller during my visit. Close to the top there is also a magnificent viewing area where you can look down the valley towards Lake Bohinj (Bohinjsko Jezero).
