"Stay With Me" English Cover by Caitlin Myers, but it uses the original instrumental

To start, this is in no way meant to disrespect Caitlin or ‪@vanfanco‬ for their original work on this cover. Hiring an entire band to produce a track at as high of quality as the original is very expensive and requires very specific talent. I imagine Caitlin just didn't have the budget for that, which is no one's fault. I created this as a labor of love for Caitlin's English cover, and I take no real credit for this mix other than slapping these two pieces together in Adobe Audition. I wanted this to have the same feel as Caitlin's original "Plastic Love" cover on YouTube, which used the original instrumental. I got inspired to do this after seeing @PetaiasEntertainmentWorld make a video with the same concept. While no disrespect to Petaia as they did a great job with what they had, I felt like I could make a cleaner version using newer tools. This was made possible using Ultimate Vocal Remover 5, a free software for extracting instrumentals/vocals. AI music extractors have existed for a few years now, but this yields the best results by far, and it isn't locked behind a paywall. Once I extracted both the English vocals and the original instrumental, I just married them together in Adobe Audition, adjusted a few timings to sync everything up, adjusted the gain in a few spots, matched the fade out at the end, and added light limiting and compression. The result isn't 100% perfect. The AI extraction of both pieces wasn't perfectly clean, but fortunately once I mixed them together, it was very hard to notice any artifacts. However, Caitlin's vocals and the original instrumental clash in some areas, mainly towards the end during some of the guitar riffs. This could be due to the fact that the guitar and vocals both sit in the center of the stereo field, but could also be due to their clashing frequencies. Without having access to the original mix/stems, I can't really address the stereo field, and I'm also not good enough at EQ'ing to dial in where it sits in the mix. However, I got it as best as I could through very light application of Audition's "center channel extractor", as well as tuning the gain on the vocals as best as I could. Very happy with the result regardless.
