They form out of no where, you'll turn the boat, then they disappear. I'd be curious to know if a more right side line would work better. We had 1 - 15' gear boat flip and 2 other oarsmen tossed in Granite. Wild Sheep - Standard left to right move avoiding the boat flipping lateral on the left. I goes if you miss the line just tee-up to it and push like hell. Churnny water through the run. Rig to flip at these flows as it can and will happen. 3 (maybe 4 people) on top of a gear boat to flip back over in deep water. Pull upriver in the flow so the current can help.
