We had most of the tracks already recorded in a studio so were looking for some nice locations in Northern Ireland to accompany the lyrics and Irish folk sounding flute and guitar riffs, in the song. But, there was also something else I was particularly looking for … Just a few days before we set off, an idea of having somebody play a unique and rare Irish instrument came to me: (the uillean pipes). Yet, it was still in my dreams even though none of my Irish friends knew a person who plays these type of pipes! On the morning of our arrival to Armagh, while walking along the streets of this historical town, we stopped in front of a building. Above our heads the inscription read it is a place where they provide folk music classes, inculding the uillean pipes, every Monday. Because that day was actually Monday, that evening we had the privilege of observing a group of young players with their teacher. To make a long story short, on our last evening before flying back home, we were found in a small cottage: surrounded by the beautiful fields, with the teacher - Tiarnan O Duinnchinn, who is a master of the uillean pipes. He repeatedly has been titled the best of all the Ireland pipers. So here we were sitting, listening and recording Tiarnan playing ‘My Shepherd’. What a treat! One may say it was just a coincidence. But surely not for me …
