This is a set of pictures with a video at the end. It will show how I prep a rib style frame work and cover my boat for the winter months. Here in Montreal (Canada) snow load is a concern, so having a cover that will enable snow to slide off is a huge plus. The 1-1/2'' and 1'' plastic pipes I use can be bought at any large hardware store, in 100' or longer rolls. Cut the sizes (lengths) you need from front to back. Once installed and before adding the cover, number each rib using white paint so next season you will know the correct order. Notice the mid section of the mast does have a wood support added. Also, if you have the ability to of removing your lifeline and/or stanchions, do it! Mine do not come off! So, it is important that the lifelines be loosened to prevent stanchion bend due to lifeline shrinkage when cold. Note: The back end will be closed with a smaller 6 x 8 tarp that will enable easy access onboard during winter if necessary. Also, you might spot a small hole in the tarp where the cockpit is. I fixed that using a pool patch kit that includes vinyl cement and patch material. Notice also how I removed the spreaders and tied them under the mast.
