FIBA Approved Basketballs PSI Rebound Test - How Do 3 Balls Compare?

There are a large number of FIBA Approved basketball and all have to pass stringent tests to be able to bear the FIBA Approved badge. So how do they decide what psi a basketball should be inflated to? Why do different branded basketballs have different suggested psi ratings if they have all been FIBA Approved? We found the information on how FIBA work out what the psi should be and put it to the test. The testing lab would be at 23° but when we tested in one of our warehouses the temperature was a chilly 6° so how much different would the psi need to be to pass our test? We trawled through the 20 page document and on page 17 found something of interest. On this page the regulations state the basketball must be dropped onto a solid floor from a height of 1800mm and rebound ideally to 1300mm. A tolerance of 100mm either side is allowed though. So if you don't have a pressure gauge you can test your ball to see if it is inflated correctly. You will obviously need a ball, pump, measure, marker pen and a thermometer to replicate the test so, may be easier to just buy a pressure gauge.
