Hi, Matt with etrailer. And today, we're talking about the Yakima FatCat EVO Ski and Snowboard Carrier on top of our 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now, this can be a great option for you if you wanna carry your skis from point A to point B, and you have more of those taller binding skis. This is gonna be able to lift up to accommodate those taller bindings. So let's check them out. So operating this is pretty straightforward, and I actually do like the design of it, because we have these larger buttons, really easy to use. All I have to do is hit it, and it pops right up on both sides. Now, actually, getting my skis out of here can be a little bit tricky, because I just don't have the reach. So what you're probably gonna have to do is open up your door and grab them this way. Now, the downside to this is this is gonna be a slip hazard. So if you're worried about that, because you don't wanna fall or hurt yourself, there are other options on our website, one of those being the Kuat Grip Ski and Snowboard Carriers. Those are really nice, because they have trays that slide out, so you don't have to step inside your vehicle. But if you noticed, with this open, we have this rubber molding inside. That rubber molding is designed to help keep you ski from sliding around, so they don't scratch each other up. And when I close this, you'll notice we have multiple hooks at the edge. And what that's designed to do is to grab on to accommodate different thicknesses of skis. (carrier clanking) When we have them both closed, we also have the option of locking this in place, because we have this lock core at the very end. What's really nice about that too is if you have any other Yakima gear or accessories or roof rack, you can get this keyed alike to those, so you don't have to carry around as many keys. And another secure point is gonna be the clamp system itself. So how this works is you're gonna have this rubber strap that reaches all the way around and connects to the other side and clips into place. You can only open this clip from this side if you loosen up the interior. The only way to loosen up the interior is to open this up. So that's really nice that you only need one key or lock core to access both of these. So it's just a really smart system, that's something I really do like about this one. But we can get some measurements to see how high this is gonna stick up. So the first measurement I'm gonna get is gonna be the overall height. Now, let me get this ruler out of my pocket or tape measure. I'm gonna step up here, so we can get a better look at that measurement. And that's gonna be just about five inches, which isn't too bad. Now, that's gonna change if you do choose to use that SkiLift that's built on here. And like I said, that's the reason what's gonna give you the ability to accommodate those taller bindings, 'cause once that rises up, it's gonna sit up a lot higher, but those bindings aren't gonna hit your roof. So there's gonna be some pros and cons for that. If you are going through a low clearance area, maybe like a garage, you could make contact with them. So what I advise is just taking the total height of your vehicle, your roof rack, and your ski carrier as well, so you know what areas you can make it under. As for the space underneath it, I'm actually not worried about that at all, because this is just a really thin rubber strap. Very sturdy still, but since it doesn't take up a whole lot of room, it's not gonna make contact with anything that's up here. For the space this has taken up on our crossbars, it's not taken up a whole lot of space. We have about 47 inch of bars today, and we have a little bit over half of our space left, or that we are using I mean. So if you wanna throw something else up here, you'll be able to do that, but you're gonna be limited to more smaller and more narrower items, anything like a basket. But in my opinion, I think this is a good system if you're looking for more of a premium option that has a SkiLift on it. And it's gonna have a really nice finish and match our vehicle today. Now, if you're looking for more of a budget friendly option, Yakima does make another ski carrier with a SkiLift on it. The only difference is this one's integrated, t
