Hello friends and fellows! Welcome Back to Doctor Speaks! This tutorial is about the Anatomy of Teres Major muscle. As we are still discussing the muscles of scapular region so the Teres Major, as you may know, is a muscle of scapular region located on the posterolateral aspect of the scapula. Unlike the Teres Minor, this muscle does not insert onto the capsule of glenohumeral joint and so it is not a rotator cuff muscle. The Teres Major is one of those several muscles that connect the scapula and humerus, so it is largely responsible for a great variety of movements of the upper limb. In most of the movements produced by the Teres Major, it acts synergistically with the Latissimus Dorsi and Pectoralis Major muscles due to the closen relation between the tendon of insertions of these three muscles. So, in this tutorial we have tried to utilize our potential on important study points regarding this muscle such as its origin, insertion, innervation or nerve supply, arterial or vascular supply and some actions performed by this muscle.
