'We Need to Talk About Kevin' via a Post-Feminist Ideological Lens

A video essay on We Need to Talk About Kevin... Designed for the WJEC/EDUQAS A Level Film Specification, this post (in the abstruse language of the exam questions) asks how useful an ideological critical approach is to understanding the messages of the film. Translated, does looking at the film's content through a politically-tinted lens make it more interesting, or does it detract from meaning? In this case, I look at WNTTAK through a Post-Feminist/morally conservative lens, and conclude that while it's interesting, it fundamentally misses the genre-based aim of the film, which is to be a psychological horror for intelligent parents. No one wants their kid to be a mass murderer, but even more pressingly, they don't want it to be their fault...
