Armação dos Búzios (or Búzios), is a Brazilian resort located on an oceanic peninsula east of Rio de Janeiro. It is known as a sophisticated vacation destination with numerous beaches. These include Ferradura, in a calm horseshoe-shaped bay with water sports, and Geribá, a popular surfing spot. Among the village's streets, Rua das Pedras, cobbled, is a center for restaurants and nightlife. It is a peninsula eight kilometers long and has 23 beaches, receiving sea currents from the Equator on one side and sea currents from the South Pole on the other, which means it has beaches with both warm and cold waters. Among the main beaches, Geribá, Tucuns, João Fernandes, Ferradura, Ferradurinha, Marina, Armação, Manguinhos, Tartaruga, Ossos, Brava and Olho-de-Boi stand out, the latter reserved for the practice of naturism. Tourist exploitation and real estate occupation of the place began after the international fame given to Búzios by the French actress Brigitte Bardot, who visited it in 1964.
