Part of the 1995 Ford F-250 preventative maintenance series, this video documents the procedure used to completely flush out the brake fluid and replace it with fresh new fluid. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time lowering its boiling point among other things, so it's vital to flush out the fluid every couple of years to minimize corrosion damage to the system and maintain brake effectiveness. There are tools available to test the moisture content of the fluid and let you know when it should be changed. I don't own such a tool yet, but every two years is a good rule of thumb. This procedure will save you a ton of money in expensive repairs to the ABS valve body, brake caliper rebuilds, and brake line replacement/repair. Most cars can be done in the same way demonstrated in this video however, newer vehicles with 4-wheel ABS may require a computer hooked to the OBD II port to activate the ABS hydraulic pump to flush out the ABS module. Otherwise, you'll only get a partial bleed. (10/8/2012)
