This is a long one so grab some popcorn! I spent a decent amount of time adding a sound track to this one as to not make it too boring. Hope you enjoy and learn something =) In this episode, I go through the piston ring repair process on a v6 Honda / Acura motor. This is a common issue on specific generation J35 engines that were released by Honda, a TSB was released stating some inspection procedures when misfires develop on cylinders 1 through 4. The spark plugs in these cylinders start to foul from oil consumption and eventually causes a misfire. The rear bank seems to get hit the hardest from my experience. For myself these jobs are getting more frequent as they are falling out of warranty by Honda so customers turn to independent shops to have their vehicle repaired. I find this kind of work peaceful and really enjoy cleaning up the pistons and restoring them to looking new. Hey, I also do photography!
