It is currently challenging to capture high-resolution 3D videos at high frame rates. Most 3D imaging technologies either take a relatively long time to form each 3D video frame, or do not provide very high resolution. This video shows off a new approach to tackle the challenge of high-resolution 3D video using a high-density array of micro-cameras. By packing 48 small high pixel-count cameras together and placing them behind a large objective lens, we are able to create high-resolution 3D videos with 4K resolution (down to 10 µm/pixel) at over 100 fps. Preliminary results in this video highlight how this new technique can capture novel 3D measurements of small model organisms. This short presentation is a summary of a talk given at Photonics West 2024, titled "Fourier light field camera array mesoscope for video-rate 3D imaging", by Clare Cook.
