Spectacular ridge hike from Turren to Brienzer Rothorn (2024/08/30)

This 5-hour T2 level panorama ridge hike from Turren to Brienzer Rothorn offered incredible views of Lake Brienz, snow-capped mountains, and rugged alpine terrain. Starting with the first gondola ride from Lungern at 8:20 AM, we took the scenic route via Höch Gumme, crossing Rückenegg, and the ridge over Männli. Along the way, we encountered swarms of winged ants that cut our breaks short when we tried to pause to take in the breathtaking scenery. The hot weather made the stop at Berghaus Eisee for a cool drink very rewarding. We reduced our ascent by taking the lift from Berhaus Eisee up towards the peak of Brienzer Rothorn, cutting the full 1,300 meters to 1,100 height meters. Due to recent flooding, the iconic steam train from Brienz was out of service, but the gondola to Sörenberg was still running, with the last descent at 16:50. This hike combined everything we love about the Alps—challenging trails, serene landscapes, and awe-inspiring views.
