Christine Reed tours the timeless design of an iconic Mercedes Benz. An historic, Concours winning 540K and others, from the Benz EQ Concept car to significant racecars from the MBZ motorsports competition stable; gullwing 300SL to GT transformed period production cars, to modern AMG fitted models available at your Mercedes dealer today. Christine offers off the cuff, engaging insights from her unique lens, polished by experiences in the transportation design world with Art Center's transportation design dept's longest seated chair, (her dad) to brokering and racing vintage racecars, her enthusiasm & knowledge is evident while she explores historic design. This episode primarily focuses on a restored, awarded 500k/540k transition car with a Speziale body which covers the cabriolet boot under a smooth surface and is worth millions of dollars. We weren't surprised when later, this very car was announced as class winner. We also got a good close look at the overall show winner which also came from this 540K Class! As well, the overall Concours winner, a 1938 special bodied Autobahn-Kurier restored by Paul Russell! Legendary racecar driver Jochen Mass stopped for a photo. We also talk with world renowned expert Leslie Kendall, curator of The Petersen Automotive Museum - who was also one of the 540K class judges. As well, an appreciative visual study of this impressive bodywork and interior is included in this video, which is a little long unless you love vintage and historically significant Mercedes-Benz.
