The last of the patrons filtered out through the front door. The barkeep, exhausted and apathetic to it all, didn't even bother cleaning up for the evening. All the tables were left the way they were, food, drink, and all. "I'm really going to miss it here" mused the young tavern waitress. "Why do we have to shut the doors again Otic?" "The invasion is moving faster than expected. If we don't leave, we may have nothing left to stay for." They both silently mused at the recent events. Mindflayers. Arrived en masse and started at all the big cities. Valanym was the first to fall, as it was where the tentacled monsters focused their efforts initially. After that, all the other local cities began to fall into disarray. The Tavern was located between the mountains, a few days journey east and away from the Capital. News came from the refugees who were leaving the town days prior. Otic was forced to make some difficult decisions. The promised groups that fell through the Time Portal had vanished and were nowhere to be found. The holy weapons that were promised, had been all but forgotten. The world was ending. Otic knew that. However, he didn't know quite how to phrase it to his young assistant. However, she spoke up first, lip quivering. "I know that the heroes will return! I just know it. They'll come back with weapons stronger than the ones promised. They'll fix this mess!" Otic gave her a grim smile. "Let's hope for all of our sake, that they do." The barkeep glanced at the tavern. It had been in his possession for decades at this point. Built by, as legend would have it, an automaton that was lost along his way. Otic befriended the individual and eventually sent him on his own journey. He mused his own thoughts. Maybe the group really would return. After all, Kaisel always had a way of figuring things out that nobody else could even imagine. The automaton was incredibly smart and lived to solve all of this worlds problems, despite his failing memory core. The Great War had left many scars upon the continent, but it had also sewn seeds of great hope. The doors shut behind him as he couldn't stand to look any longer. Everything from this point on, was in The Last Quest's hands. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, it's been weeks! Unreal Engine is quite an engine and place to work inside of. After hours of figuring out how to adjust flames, add shadows, and integrate free assets, we've made it. My own personal rendition and rendering of a tavern! I hope that this hour long mix fills you with nostalgia, entertainment, and hope!
