A video just for fun. I bumble around a bit finding my holds and elevation settings on the ladder sight, but eventually work out firing solutions out to 600 yards. The Mosin is an extremely fun gun to shoot, and fairly accurate. It has an excellent set of adjustable notch and post sights that make this a lot easier than it would be with the sighting systems on some other old battle rifles. A few years ago, the ammo I'm shooting today was approximately $0.20/rnd. Now it's closer to $0.70 (which is about the going rate for 5.56 ammo) but it's actually available has a whole lot more punch. For comparison, this 147gr FMJ is traveling about 2850fps, for an energy output approximately equivalent to the .308 Winchester. This gun hasn't made it into the deer blind yet but that may change in 2021.
