This was filmed and edited by Epic Flightz and the footage was taken in June of 2020. The footage was filmed with a DJI Mavic Air drone. Please do not redistribute, copy or otherwise reproduce this footage without written consent) The Tehachapi Loop is one of the busiest single-track stretches of rail in the world and sees around 40 trains a day. In the US, the frequency of trains and beautiful scenery makes the Tehachapi Loop one of the favored destinations of rail enthusiasts. The loop was recognized as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1998. It was also registered in 1953 as a Californian Historical Landmark, number 508 if you are interested. Taken from Wikipedia: "The Tehachapi Loop is a 0.73-mile (1.17 km) long spiral, or helix, on the Union Pacific Railroad line through Tehachapi Pass, of the Tehachapi Mountains in Kern County, south-central California. One of the engineering feats of its day, the Loop was built by Southern Pacific Railroad to ease the grade over Tehachapi Pass. Construction began in 1874, and the line opened in 1876. Contributors to the project's construction include Arthur De Wint Foote and the project's chief engineer, William Hood. Rising at a steady 2% grade, the track gains 77 feet (23 m) in elevation in the Loop. A train more than 4,000 feet (1,200 m) long passes over itself going around the loop."
