I knew I was capable, but what I put into my body left me without physically being able to do it. Now, at first I did not know what it was. I remember the first feeling was a slight fatigue and lack of energy on the climb, but I shook it off and as I continued to descend the first climb I started to feel dizzy and not in control. That is when it started to go really downhill, literally! I did my usual checks, of taking salt pills (bad idea), more fluids (bad idea) and eating more. This is when my stomach went into huge cramps or even major pains I had never had before. I stumbled up the Watkins path, which in theory should be fine for me, but I stopped about x5 to regain my composure. I knew from there it was game over and I stumbled up and back down to the aid station. I'm not a medical guy, but the only possible out come was hyponastremia because I had all the symptoms. Muscle cramps and fatigue, dizziness, low energy, no appetite, nausea etc. I would say I was fine about 5 hours after I stopped, so I recovered well and after 2/3 days I was back to normal. #ultratraining #ultratrailrunning #utmb
